NAIDOC week is a celebration of Aboriginal people – their culture and their resilience. I was lucky enough to attend a number of events including the family celebration day at Wullamulla Park in Woolloomooloo and the NAIDOC family and sports day at the NCIE in Redfern (National Centre for Indigenous Excellence).
The theme of this year’s NAIDOC week was We all Stand on Sacred Ground: Learn, Respect & Celebrate. It highlights the Aboriginal people’s spiritual connection to their land. I am continually amazed at this rich culture and how the Aboriginal people have carried their history and cultural knowledge across the ages through the spoken word.
