It was a pleasure to be a part of the Pride BBQ this year, where I was able to have a chat with the community and listen to people’s stories. The event was welcoming and inclusive, and it was promising to see the LGBTIQ community on such good terms with the local police. I was also able to have a chat with Senior Constable Craig Parkinson, who is doing some really great work to better the community. He is aiming to improve issues for marginalised people and is working within the areas of mental health, LGBTIQ people and drug and alcohol issues. It is great to see our local police take such a proactive interest in our community. I look forward to being a part of such events in the future.
